2015 Turing Award Winner, Whitefield Diffie officially joins Cortex Labs as an academic advisor. Diffie, known as the modern godfather of cryptographyc is a world-renowned cryptologist and has made significant contributions to public-key cryptography. He had previously presented the Diffie–Hellman key exchange with Martin Edward Hellman and received the 2015 Turing Award, the most prestigious award in computer science.

Cortex Labs CEO Ziqi Chen, Professor Whitfield Diffie, Cortex Labs CTO Weiyang Wang

Ziqi Chen, Cortex Labs CEO, and CTO Weiyang Wang first met with Professor Whitfield Diffie at Stanford University. There, the team revealed the Cortex Virtual Machine’s potential application scenarios of AI, face/fingerprint security authentication, and how encryption technology would protect the privacy of the data model. Impressed by the Cortex project, Cryptic Labs, led by Professor Whitfield Diffie, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Cortex Labs. Dr. Whitfield Diffie will serve as an academic advisor to the Cortex project and both sides will conduct in-depth discussions, cooperation, and research on solving the key technical difficulties of the project. Cortex became one of the first of two projects to partner with Cryptic Labs out of hundreds of project applications.

Cortex is a blockchain AI project that aims to implement decentralized artificial intelligence autonomous systems and achieve consensus on artificial intelligence models on the blockchain. Through their machine-learning platform, users will be able to post tasks on the platform and submit AI Dapps (Artificial Intelligence Decentralized Applications).

The team has significant experience in the AI and blockchain industry and is proficient in consensus algorithms and public chain ecosystem including mining pools, digital asset wallets, and developing mining software. Cortex CEO, Ziqi Chen, studied machine learning and various algorithmic applications, including the Go algorithm, in his early learning experience with David P. Helmbold. Weiyang Wang, the CTO, learned mathematics-based machine learning from Peter McCullagh, who won the COPSS Presidents’ Award in 1990. He has also won a silver model (top 1% in the world) in Kaggle competition. After publishing many papers and developing modals in the field of deep learning, he played a leading role in introducing the four projects (OCR/Migration Learning/Human Face/Distributed Computing) into the Awesome MXNet boutique projects.
